The purpose of the dress code is to teach the students to dress neatly and to learn to take pride in their appearance and in themselves. It is expected that modesty and decorum will be the decisive elements in the Kennedy Dress Code. Immodest dress and dress that stretches the spirit of the dress code will not be tolerated. The Administration, and in particular the Dean of Students, determines what is and what is not acceptable clothing or dress. Students who are in serious violation, as determined by the Administration, and students who are immodestly dressed will be sent home.

Kennedy Catholic sweat suits, available in the bookstore, are also acceptable. Because of the nature of certain activities, the Phys Ed Instructor may require traditional gym clothing - shorts and T-shirt - rather than a sweat suit, which may restrict movement. ALL STUDENTS must come prepared with athletic shoes (NO TURF SHOES).
SUMMARY
It is not enough to follow the letter of the law; students are expected to follow the spirit of the dress code as well. The Administration (not faculty, students, parents) is the "final word" as to what is acceptable and not acceptable. Gym clothing is mandatory.
